Hawaii Calls: Sending Some Aloha to Wetoku.com CoFounder David Lee

Today I had a chance to speak with David Lee of Wetoku.com (play on the words We Talk) about his great new service that allows bloggers to record interviews and post them to their blogs.

According to David Wetoku for Bloggers can be used to produce recordings of interviews that can easily be embedded into many blogging platforms.  Bloggers can use their webcams to meet with someone interesting over the web, with no software to install.  The recording is immediately available, with embed code that can be pasted directly into a new blog entry.

The most intriguing feature for me is the speed and ease of the whole process. Record, copy the embed code and post and share. Since I post with Posterous it is wicked fast to get the interviews plastered all over all of my social properties.

Show some #Aloha by following @Wetoku on Twitter! http://twitter.com/wetoku and thanks to David you can sign up for the beta by being one of the first 100 bloggers to go to Wetoku.com and sign up for an account and enter DOCROCK as the Invite Code.

Much Mahalo to David and the staff at Wetoku.com and I look forward to rocking this little jem of a WebApp for many interviews to come. I wonder if I can get Megan Fox to do an Wetoku Interview.

Hurry stop reading this and go sing up and start interviewing.

#Aloha

We made it on WeToku’s Blog

Lanai and I did an interview on how to do an interview just playing around and testing out this great new service call Wetoku. Check us out on Wetoku’s Blog

This great idea was created by David Lee(@davidyhlee) and James Lee(@_James_Lee) allows blogger to place recorded video interviews on their sites.  What an excellent way to interact with your readers, do some training of your team, practice your Pinyin, Hangul or Nihongo.  The service is in private beta for now and once I get my hands on some invites I’ll share the Aloha. For now the best way to get invited it to follow @Wetoku@davidyhlee@_James_Lee@docrock and @lanaithedj on twitter.

I’ll be recording more interviews soon so keep checking the twitterverse to see who in next. If you have something cool you want to show me let me know I’ll put you on too.
#Aloha

HOW TO: Get Rid of Annoying Facebook Notifications

This isn’t a new feature, but I’m always amazed at how many people simply endure thousands of notifications and updates from applications and pages, without ever bothering to simply turn them off. Here’s a couple of ways to do it.

Click on the “Notifications” buttom at the bottom right corner in Facebook. Click on “See All.” On the right, you’ll see a long list of every application that sends you notifications, and you can turn them off by unchecking them. Be careful, Facebook’s own applications which are probably useful to you, such as feed comments, are also on the list, so you’ll probably want to leave them checked.

Alternatively, in the small notifications roll-up window on the bottom right, an “x” will appear as you hover the mouse pointer over individual notifications. Clicking on it will remove any further notifications from that application.

Finally, for additional fine tuning, you can click on Settings in the main menu, then on “Application Settings”. Choose “Authorized” from the drop down menu. Many applications actually have quite a lot of privileges. For example, some are able to “Access my data even when I’m not using the application,” “Send me emails” and
“Publish recent activity to my wall.” From here, you can turn all of those off without actually removing the application.

Now, you can do the same for Updates. Click on “Updates” in the menu on the same page (you can reach the page by clicking on “Inbox” from the main menu), and then click on “Updates Settings” on the right. From there, you can control which updates you receive. Save changes, and you’re done.

That’s all! Enjoy your new, nag-free Facebook.

Please send this to all your friends they will thank you. especially if they are not the most tech-savvy.

Do you constantly have 99 new notifications, marked with the little red button at the bottom right in your Facebook account? Would you like to only receive important notifications, such as comments from friends, and skip the stuff various applications send you? Read on.

Facebook To Add Vanity URL’s Very Soon

Facebook, Inc.
Image via Wikipedia

Facebook will soon be allowing all users to claim a vanity URL pointing to their regular profile page, we’ve heard from a reliable source. The announcement should come sometime later this week. Afterwards, at a certain date and time, the landrush will begin. Users will be able to grab a vanity URL of their choice.

The Landrush rules will prohibit trademark infringement and a lots of words will be blacklisted, such as generic terms. But for the most part, we hear, users will be able to grab a name that they like.

SCAM: Goldbase.be on Facebook, Don’t Click’Em

Image representing Facebook as depicted in Cru...
Image via CrunchBase

It seems there’s no end to the Facebook spam and phishing attacks, Says Pete Cashmore of Mashable after he starting getting phishing scam messages in his Facebook Inbox. He ststed he is seeing message that seem to be nefarious from “.be” domains. The subject line of the mails is “Look at This”.

If you receive such a mail, DO NOT click links to the following sites:

goldbase.be
greenbuddy.be
silvertag.be
picoband.be

Just like with Twitter’s Mikeyy attacks, these scams arelaunched during the weekends because many websites have less staff on hand to deal with them.

What To Do According to Mashable:

If you receive one of these Facebook mails, simply delete it – one of your friends is infected but not you. If you find, however, that your account is sending the mails:

1. As a precaution, go to your browser settings and clear your cookies.

2. Change your Facebook password

3. Make sure your antivirus software is up to date and run a full system scan

4. Buy a Friggin Macintosh Ya Putz ( Ok that one was from me ).

Has Twitter Lost it’s Power? Eh… No!

Image representing Twitter as depicted in Crun...
Image via CrunchBase

The is a lot of fodder flying around the blogosphere after Neilson’s report on Twitter Retention.  I think the study was a bit flawed and needed a bit more foundation on real people not just numbers.

My chime in on the conversation as posted on Linkedin.com Twitter Group:

As with any new from of communication there will always be those that dont get it. This was true, of email, pagers, cellphones and blogs. All of the aforementioned are very pervasive now and are just common vernacular today.

Twitter has bot the power and the buzz to be the next household communications word.

You may not get it now but than you may not be trying to get it because there is no immediate upside for you business today, don’t let this get you out of the conversation.  Todays memetic behaviors of consumers often spread faster than the swine flu when the right catalyst hits.  Twitter is just waiting one of these catalyst. ie: @AplusK and @CNN battle and @oprah

My advise hang in there, just start communicating with people, network, look around but don’t try to sell yet, when the damn burst you’ll be there.  Keep the big white Motorola Cellphone in the back of your mind thinking of the days when we all said who the heck needs to be that ready to use a phone… my god that thing is huge… cellphones “I don’t get it…

The uber code designers at Arc90.com have just blessed us with yet another url based link sharer for Twitter.  The DiggBar, HootSuite, TwitPwr and Tweetie all have this feature but this one is different.  Arc90 is famous for their successful app Readability , which added the end all be all feature of removing the clutter from what we like to read online.  Completely outdoing InstaPaper, Readability just got it right.

Well I’m here to tell you that for now there is no better link sharer for twitter than TBUZZ.

TBUZZ offers the same basic features but also allows you to see who else is trending what you are sharing.  Sounds funny but watch the video and you’ll get it.
